G. Steven Murdock
G. Steven Murdock serves as the President of Inman & Fitzgibbons and is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. Steve has been an attorney with Inman & Fitzgibbons for over 20 years, a partner for over a dozen of those. He was named Vice President in 2015 and President in 2020. After receiving his Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Bradley University in 1991 and his Juris Doctorate from Northern Illinois University College of Law in 1994, Steve spent his first two years of his law career representing injured workers before the Illinois Industrial Commission, trying a dozen or so cases within his first two years of practice. In December 1996, he joined Michael Inman & Associates (n/k/a Inman & Fitzgibbons, Ltd. since 1999) on the defense side representing insurers and insureds before the Illinois Industrial Commission and now the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission. He has tried cases of all sizes and issues for both private sector employers and public entities, including fire departments, and he continues to take on new challenges before the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission, the Illinois circuit courts and the Illinois appellate courts specializing in the defense of Illinois workers’ compensation claims. His commitment to meeting and exceeding client expectations and his success resulted in his obtaining his license in Missouri in 2013 where he continues to zealously represent the interests of insurers and insureds before the Missouri Department of Labor & Industrial Relations’ Workers’ Compensation Division.
Steve is recognized by employers and employer organizations as knowledgeable in the defense of workers’ compensation claims and is often asked to speak before the firm’s clients, non-client employers, and employer organizations about strategies and developments in the defense of these claims. His attention to detail in his handling of cases has made him a challenging defense attorney resulting in numerous victories for our clients. He also serves as our firm’s liaison to the Illinois Chamber of Commerce’s Employment Law Council’s Workers Compensation Committee and monitors and provides input on pending legislation in Springfield affecting our practice.
Steve has for the last eight years served on the Board of Managers for GiGi’s Playhouse Fox Valley, a Down syndrome achievement center, and volunteers what remaining time he can find assisting with programs for adults with special needs at SEASPAR in Downers Grove, Illinois.
